COVID-19 DHEC Regulations (2021-22)

DHEC’s School and Childcare Exclusion List (updated Feb 13, 2022)

Legally, BCSD must adhere to DHEC’s School and Childcare Exclusion List. As per the South Carolina Department of Education, “The School and Childcare Exclusion List is not a guidance document but a requirement governed by state statute that schools and childcares must follow.”

En Español: Lista de exclusión para escuelas y centros de cuidado infantil.

COVID-19 data per school (updated every Wednesday)

To view COVID-19 data for individual schools, please see DHEC’s Student, Staff Isolation and Quarantine Report and click on the blue rectangle to access the report (PDF). Go to Beaufort in the first column (under District) and find your child’s school.

This report, which is updated every Wednesday (while school is in session), includes:

  • Students and school staff who are isolated – meaning they meet the CDC case-defining criteria for a Confirmed or Probable COVID-19 case;
  • Students and school staff who are quarantined – meaning they are close contacts;
  • Student and school staff who have been quarantined and isolated since the start of the 2021-2022 school year; and,
  • Students and school staff who became positive during their quarantine.

At-home Covid-19 tests

Starting Tuesday, January 18, 2022, BCSD will accept at-home rapid-test results to allow students to return earlier from quarantine, per DHEC:

Verification of at-home rapid-test results for students will be accepted at the school. The steps for submitting the results are as follows:

  1. Follow the District-issued guidance*provided by your school regarding what date the at-home rapid-test can be administered. (Per DHEC, the test must be taken on or after Day 4, and this information will be included in the guidance from the school)
  2. Administer the test following the instructions specific to the at-home rapid-test
  3. Sign and return the Attestation Form for At-Home COVID-19 Test required by DHEC to the school. (Schools will communicate to parents specific instructions for how to submit the forms to the school)

*Students must receive District-issued quarantine guidance through the school BEFORE they submit verification of at-home rapid-test results. Schools will not be able to accept at-home rapid-test results if the student guidance has not been previously issued.

Please note it is the responsibility of the student’s family to obtain the at-home rapid-test.
